Peanut Kernels are a popular source of energy because of its high oil content and 500-550 cals/100g
Traditionally the most popular Wild Bird Food with both customers and the birds. This popularity has waned a little over the last few years due to considerable price increases, rumours regarding Aflatoxins and the birds having a larger range of foods to choose from. However it remains a popular food for birds in the garden.
Aflatoxins are caused by a mold that can develop on peanuts that have been grown, harvested or stored in humid conditions. These Aflatoxins are extremely harmful to both Humans and Birds alike. Regulations are now in place to help ensure that peanuts above excepted levels are not put on sale. (See our links page for more information).
Needless to say we only purchase Peanuts Certified to be of Highest Quality
